Sorry for my prolonged absence, it’s not for want of posting things…it’s having too much to post and not enough time or energy to do so…
So, the other day, I suggested to Issa that we should have his coworkers over for a little Halloween shindig. I wasn’t certain that it would necessarily materialize but *surprise, surprise* people accepted the invitation! So, now I have a bunch of people coming over and frankly–until today(ish), I wasn’t really prepared.
Oh, sure we have furniture in the house, but it’s not really set up for entertaining…or rather, it wasn’t…and then yesterday and today I went out and strategically picked certain things like a rug for the guest bathroom and some curtains for the living room, a pillar candle for the hallway…and it really warmed up the place.
So, with that out of the way I sat down tonight and really put together a game plan for the food. I have to say I am pretty happy with the outcome, the only qualification is…can I pull it off??
I am serving finger foods and this is what I have come up with so far:
Bat Wings (Buffalo Wings)
Boiled Eyeballs (Swedish Meatballs)
Fried Brains (Fried Macaroni & Cheese Balls)
Severed Bandaged Bloody Fingers (for my buddy Kate) (Croissant Wrapped Hot Dogs & Ketchup)
Bug Guts (Chips & Guacamole)
For dessert or “sweets”:
Mud-dipped Poison Apples (Chocolate Dipped Candy Apples)
Pumpkin Pie
Mini-Monster Cakes (Cupcakes that look like monsters)
Graveyards, dirt & worms (just like momma used to make)
Aside from that some pretzles and nuts and things.
Ugh, I just spent like an hour writing this because I have too many thoughts in my head–too many ideas, too many things that need to get done between now and Wednesday at 7:00…namely the chocolate fountain idea I have been having. I saw one for dirt cheap but since I hate to spend money on things like that I thought it would be silly…however, now I realize how nice it would be to have for holidays! Some marshmellows, strawberries, pretzles…the list is endless, really…
I have to go to bed. Wish me luck on my party, I am going to need it!

Ok, so that is a LOT of food! I do not envy your clean up! I hope you have great fun and take LOTS of pictures for us to see!
Best of luck on the party! It sounds like you have some very creative ideas! I was swayed to purchase a dirt cheap chocolate fountain last year with hopes for the holidays too, but have not done party entertaining since and now I’m on this freaking “healthy eating” thing! Bummer. Let us know how it all turns out!
