Oh my gosh people, so this is something I didn’t anticipate when I came out here…I think I remember some fires when I was younger, but nothing like this. I was out this afternoon and a wall of smoke and ash overtook the shopping center I was at. I thought it was crazy that the wind was blowing it all so far…and then I realized just how close the fire actually was.
Now, don’t get me wrong….I am not in any danger… no fires are creeping up my back door… I am surrounded by so much commercial stuff and not nearly enough brush to catch on fire, but * CHOKE * not far enough away to avoid being consumed by smoke. Not sure what to do, just ride it out….but this is a truly amazing phenomenon…
I live in Irvine…here is a link to the news story regarding our area……we are about 10 miles away (south) from the “red zone”… * WHEEZE *
I think what is most amazing is the wind, I have heard there are gusts up to 85 miles per hour but many areas are gusting at 50+ mph! And they are expected to get worse!
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have lost someone in this as well as the fire fighters who are bravely battling the inferno….and lastly, those who have lost their homes in this act of mother nature….
I will let you know if the Newport Beach side of Irvine catches on fire and we have to jet…but that isn’t going to happen…I don’t think.
