So, Issa called me this afternoon and told me that he had been offered a pair of tickets to Ducks hockey game tonight because one of the partners had some and couldn’t go…
Since I am always up for going out and doing something fun and different, I told him to hop on the tickets and off we went. I don’t know if I have ever been to a hockey game before…it seems as though I have but if I have I can’t recall when or why….
In any case, we got there and I have to say that it was absolutely amazing. Our tickets came with a special parking pass and so we drove right in, had no trouble finding parking…we walked through the “very important person” door and had club level seats, but I had no idea what that meant…
OH MY GOODNESS. Can I just say?? WE WERE IN THE FRONT ROW!! I mean, the only thing that separated us from the players was that piece of unimpressive plexiglass…
I am talking so stinking close to the action that I could have had a conversation with the hockey player that was stationed right in front of me during the power play–had I cared enough to introduce myself….
I am talking sooo close that when the guys slammed into the wall in front of us, I could smell the sweat left on the glass…
(okay, well..not really…)
But I honestly had absolutely no idea how much I would love–LOVE hockey. Well, maybe it wasn’t hockey itself. I don’t think I am going to sit down and watch a game on television any time soon…but going there, to the arena…sitting so close…I could hear the blades on the ice and see every move the puck made…I held my breath when the opposing team took a shot, cheered my face off when the goalie blocked a shot, and screamed like a crazy person when the Ducks knocked one in….
And…yes…
I am ashamed to admit….that I whooped and hollered, pounded the glass, and cheered when two players started throwing punches.
Does it make me a bad person?
Ok, well…what if I told you that I screamed “BOOO!” when they broke up the fight?
I don’t know what got into me, really…I suppose I just got caught up in the crowd mentality…sucked into the energy on the ice…and I suppose I didn’t really see anything wrong with two heavily padded guys throwing a few punches. All in all, I would have to say that I simply cannot wait until the next game…I hope it is sooner rather than later…
Oh goodness, I suppose that’s really all I have to say on that subject. Expect, of course…
GO DUCKS!
(They won 3-1)

Well, I think that it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement. One time Chris turned on Ultimate Fighting thinking that I would hate it, but I actually liked it and then he admitted that he didn’t lol! Glad you had fun!
Going to the games in person is a lot of fun! I went to a lot of Quad City Mallard games with my sister when I was pregnant with Jacob. It is easy to get really into it!
