Products With Personality: Philosophy

My mom recently bestowed upon me some of her extra nail care items including tools, polish, and creams.  Last night I decided that my fingernails were looking a little shabby, so I decided to give them the royal treatment. I plucked a nail color and grabbed a tube of lotion from the box my mom had given me.  When I got downstairs, I plopped down and looked at the tube in my hand, it was like seeing an old friend. Well, it wasn’t hand lotion but it was a product by Philosophy called “Soul Owner” for your feet.

The brand Philosophy came out some time ago and they have an absolutely amazing marketing concept.  What’s more–they aren’t just talk! Their products are of superb quality click here to read about their roots.

They are pricey, but as I said, they are more than just pretty packaging…so now, let’s look at that packaging!

There are four products that recently won Best of Sephora (again!), so those are the items I am going to talk about below.

Amazing Grace

This is one of the first products from Philosophy that I can recall and was one of Oprah’s Favorite Things in 2005.  It is a perfumed shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath (3 in 1)!

Printed on the front of the bottle is a “philosophy” and here is the summary of the philosophy on the bottle (from their website):

Philosophy: “life is a classroom. we are both student and teacher. each day is a test. and each day we receive a passing or failing grade in one particular subject: grace. grace is compassion, gratitude, surrender, faith, forgiveness, good manners, reverence and the list goes on. it’s something money can’t buy and credentials rarely produce. being the smartest, the prettiest, the most talented, the richest or even the poorest, can’t help. being helpful can and being humble is a good place to start. in the end it all comes down to one word, grace.”

Well, after you dry your eyes, and blow your nose, take a sniff of this beautifully scented product….it should make you feel beautiful and inspire you to go with grace.

Purity Made Simple

FINALLY!  Someone has figured out that the whole three step process is WAY too much for any one person. From their website, product description “purity made simple was created because it was our feeling that most cleansers were not getting the skin clean enough. furthermore, we do not believe you need a makeup remover and a toner to complete the cleansing process. purity made simple was formulated to emulsify and dissolve dirt, embedded debris, and makeup rather than creating a lot of foam without a lot of clean.”

Philosophy: “purity is natural. we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent, and therefore perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands clean, and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel most blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all, the daily ritual of cleansing.”

Don’t you want this affirmation when you wash your face? Ahhh…

Hope In A Jar

I have seen this advertised so many times I can’t even tell you. It has been featured in countless magazine articles and television shows.  People love this stuff..and get this!  It was originally formulated for the medical market! (Ok, I know a whole lot of products say that, but they mean it!) From the website: “endorsed by celebrities, top dermatologists, plastic surgeons and our beloved customers alike, hope in a jar is a world-renown moisturizer loaded with antioxidants in a unique souffle texture. originally created for the medical market to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin discoloration, rough texture and dehydration.”

Philosophy: “where there is hope, there can be faith. where there is faith, miracles can occur.”

Everyday, put on your moisturizer, and face the world with a little faith in miracles! What more could you ask for?

Amazing Grace Spray Fragrance

Several years ago when this fragrance first came out, I received this as a free gift with purchase.  I wore it religiously. It is beautiful, and it is–as they say–a fragrance…it isn’t a perfume…it is a light, clean, floral scent. From the website: “amazing grace embraces the essences of femininity and allows you to wear a beautiful dress every day of the week, even if you dress casually. finally people will say “my you smell good,” rather than “what fragrance are you wearing?”

Philosophy: “how you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. and so it is with life, which for many of us become one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. in the end, it all comes down to one word. grace. it’s how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light.”

Well, that’s all for now, folks!  Check out the website at www.philosophy.com, www.sephora.com, or www.drugstore.com for these awesome products…if nothing else, just read the labels for a little inspiration!
